To Kill a Mockingbird

Mr. Harrington - ALC II
Normal West High School

Before we begin reading To Kill a Mockingbird, you will research elements of 1930s American society so you have some historical perspective of the time period.  You will have three days in the IMC and two days in class to complete the assignment.  Everyone must be ready to present next Monday.  Be sure each person in your group has all materials so if a person in your group is absent, you can still present.
Your assignment
MUST include the following:

  1. A minimum of a five-minute presentation to the class.  All group members MUST participate.
  2. A formal outline (including roman numerals, upper-case letters, and numbers) must be handed  in after your presentation.
  3. Involve the class in your presentation in some way.  The group can lead a discussion, give a quiz, have the class complete a short (10 pt.) assignment on the presentation, or use another appropriate activity.
  4. Use some sort of audio-visual aid—music, videos, posters, etc. as part of the presentation.
  5. A complete Works Cited page that includes (in alphabetical order listed by author’s last name) all sources cited.  Follow correct form for your entries.  (See Mr. Harrington or Miss Aberle for help on how to do your Works Cited page.)   Be sure you keep a record of what web sites you use, as well as the URL addresses and the date you looked at the site.
  6. Two essay questions (a well-developed paragraph for each) and typed answers to on some element of your presentation.
