Process:  The following steps are what you need. The first step is always the most difficult to take, so go to it!  Remember this is a process so modifications and changes will occur throughout the semester.  This is a step by step process of learning how to develop and implement an individualized training program.  Be sure to ask questions when you need help.
  1. To find out your initial fitness level, you must analyze your needs. Therefore a needs assessment is the first step in identifying where you are and where you want to go.
  2. Identify your goals: short, intermediate, and long term goal setting is critical to ensure success.  These goals include your weight training and muscular development.
  3. Choose an exercise plan:
            body parts
            upper/lower
            design your own
  4. Fitness goals: these are your cardiovascular goals for the semester
  5. Exercises and muscle group identification: include a practical example within your program.
(Example: bench lift, bi-cep muscle group - this activity was chosen to increase upper body strength for lineman drills during football)
  6. Select an article which will help you with some other wellness issues during the semester.  Write a one page summary which includes the article's key points. Highlight points that would be useful to a classmate in their exercise and wellness program.
Evaluation: Your final program will be evaluated by the following criteria:
  1. Can your goals be met through your chosen exercises?
  2. How can you measure your improvement?
  3. Are your exercises, muscle groups, and examples correctly labeled and identified?
  4. Did you follow the assigned format?
  5. Did you include the article summary?
Grading: 20 possible points each = 120 Total points
  1. Outline, form, grammar, clarity
  2. Goals - for both activity and fitness program
  3. Plan organization, explanation, and implementation
  4. Exercise list, examples, and muscle groups
  5. Article summary
  6. Create a written weekly workout plan to hand in to teacher.
