| Process: The
following steps are what you need. The first step is always the most
difficult to take, so go to it! Remember this is a process so
modifications and changes will occur throughout the semester. This
is a step by step process of learning how to develop and implement an
individualized training program. Be sure to ask questions when you
need help. |
- To find out your initial fitness
level, you must analyze your needs. Therefore a needs assessment is
the first step in identifying where you are and where you want to
go.
- Identify
your goals: short, intermediate, and long term goal setting is
critical to ensure success. These goals include your weight
training and muscular development.
- Choose an exercise plan:
body parts
upper/lower
design your own
- Fitness goals: these are your
cardiovascular goals for the semester
- Exercises and muscle group
identification: include a practical example within your program.
(Example: bench lift, bi-cep muscle group - this activity was chosen
to increase upper body strength for lineman drills during football)
- Select an article which will help you
with some other wellness issues during the semester. Write a
one page summary which includes the article's key points. Highlight
points that would be useful to a classmate in their exercise and
wellness program.
|
| Evaluation: Your
final program will be evaluated by the following criteria: |
- Can your goals be met through your
chosen exercises?
- How can you measure your improvement?
- Are your exercises, muscle groups, and
examples correctly labeled and identified?
- Did you follow the assigned format?
- Did you include the article summary?
|
| Grading: 20 possible
points each = 120 Total points |
- Outline, form, grammar, clarity
- Goals - for both activity and fitness program
- Plan organization, explanation, and implementation
- Exercise list, examples, and muscle groups
- Article summary
- Create a written weekly workout plan to hand in to teacher.
