against Morton
Lauren Cumbess
struck out 13 and gave up 1 run on 2 hits and the Cats beat Morton
7-1. Jenn Murray hit her
first career homerun, and Lauren Harding had 2 hits and 2 RBIs to
lead the Cats.
4/18 Wildcats
win conference opener at Champaign
Central
In Game 1, Jenn
Murray threw her second no-hitter and her fifth shut out as the Cats
won 10-0 on 10 hits. Lauren Harding was 4-4 with one RBI and
two 2Bs. Kylie Harp and Katie Scroggins each had two hits, and
Alex Pfileger smashed a 3 run homerun in the 4th inning. In
Game 2, Lauren Cumbess struck out 13 and gave up 3 hits as the
Wildcats went on to win 12-1. Cumbess was 3-4 with one
RBI. Harding and Shelbi Frye each recorded two hits for the
Cats.
4/17 Cats
shut out Washington
Katie Scroggins
drove in West's only runs on a 2 RBI double. Kylie Harp was
also 2-3 with a double. Jenn Murray recorded the win to improve
her win to 4-0.
4/16 Wildcats
win at Tri-Valley
In the 3rd
inning, Katie Scroggins singled and was bunted over by Lauren Harding
to score on an Ali Cleinmark single. The Cats added two more
runs in the 7th inning as Lauren Cumbess drove in Ali Cleinmark, and
Sarah Waibel scored on a wild pitch. Cumbess went the distance,
allowing only 2 hits and striking out 13.
4/11 Cats
take two from LaSalle Peru
In Game 1,
Lauren Cumbess only allowed two hits while striking out 14. In
the 4th inning, Lauren Harding and Ali Cleinmark had back to back
singles. Lena Swearingen scored the first run on a wild pitch
and Alex Pflieger drove in Cleinmark to put the Cats ahead 2-0.
In Game 2, Jenn Murray threw 8 innings, striking out 12 as the Cats
went on to win in extra innings. Cumbess led off the 8th inning
with a double and scored on an error to win the game.
4/9 Cumbess
throws no-hitter in win at Richwoods
Lauren Cumbess
struck out 15 and only allowed one baserunner (a walk) as the Cats
scored 10 runs on 13 hits.
Cumbess led the offense with 3 hits, 3 RBIs, and one
double. Lauren Harding
and Erin Huddleston each had two hits, a double, and an RBI.
4/8 West
pounds out 14 hits in win at Pekin
Everyone
contributed in the offensive attack as the Cats blanked Pekin 10-0 in 5
innings. Lauren Harding
was 3-4 with a double, a homerun, and one RBI. Ali Cleinmark, Alex Pflieger,
and Jenna Patrick each added a pair of hits to help the cause. Jenn Murray picked up the win
and hit an RBI triple to help the offense.
4/4 Wildcats
win two at the Illini Quad
It was a
beautiful day as Olympia and Normal
West took on Hoffman Estates and Stagg at Eichelberger Field at the University of Illinois. In Game 1, the Cats scored two
runs in the 6th to take the lead against Stagg as Erin
Huddleston came through with a clutch hit. Lauren Cumbess went the
distance, allowing only 2 hits, no runs and striking out 14. In Game 2, Jenn Murray threw a
no hitter, striking out 12 as the Wildcats scored 4 runs on 8 hits
against Hoffman Estates. Cumbess and Huddleston each
had a pair of hits and Alex Pflieger had a 2-run double to give the
Cats the early lead.
4/1 The Cats
pick up first win at East
Peoria
The Wildcats
scored 6 runs on 12 hits as Lauren Cumbess threw a no-hitter,
striking out 15. Cumbess
(1 RBI), Lauren Harding, Ali Cleinmark (one 2B), Erin
Huddleston (2 RBIs, one 2B), and Alex Pflieger (1 RBI) each had 2
hits to help the Cats pick up their first win of the season.
Congratulations
to Lauren Cumbess for earning WJBC Athlete of the
Week honors for her performance against East Peoria.
3/26 West
drops opener to Metamora
Metamora took
advantage of 3 Wildcat errors as they scored 6 runs on 7 hits. Erin Huddleston started a
rally in the 7th with a solo homerun and Ali Cleinmark
drove in Katie Scroggins to bring the score to 6-2, but it was not
enough. Lauren Cumbess
suffered the loss, striking out 8 batters.
2/28 Jenn
Murray signs her National Letter of Intent to play NJCAA Softball for
Lake Land College.

West
was unable to fight through the rain and cold as they opened up their
season Thursday, March 24th at Metamora. The Redbirds managed
