Wildcats whip the Raiders 15-3.

The rain stayed away from Howard Saar field at Bloomington High School, but the Normal West Wildcats rained runs on the Bloomington Raiders parade, scoring a 15-3 victory in five innings.  The Wildcats up their record to 14-9 with the win.

After a quiet first inning for both teams, the Wildcats jumped on top with four runs in the 2nd inning.  With one out, Brandon Herzog walked and Kody Hill singled.  Adam Seifert followed with a 2-run triple to right field.  Zach Boicken then walked.  An Erik Sipes grounder to third led to a fielders choice and after he stole second, Trey Rogers brought in both Seifert and Sipes with a base hit.

In the 3rd inning, Kevin Henkels led off with on of his three walks, followed by a Raider error and a Brandon Herzog RBI single.  Kody Hill walked and then Adam Seifert singled to score a couple more.  Zach Boicken walked and then Erik Sipes brought in a run with a sacrifice fly to center and Trey Rogers double in another run.  Rogers eventually scored on an error by the Raiders for the seventh run in the inning.  Adam Seifert, Trey Rogers and Kody Hill each had two hits for the the Wildcats.

Three pitchers shared the duties on the mound.  Brandon Herzog pitched the first two innings, allowing one unearned run on two hits and a walk with one strikeout.  Adam Seifert pitched the next two innings, allowing two unearned runs on one hit and no walks with a strikeout.  Seifert was helped by a very nice throw from right field by Kody Hill to Brian Imig at the plate, cutting down a runner for the final out in the 4th inning.   Kyle Vaughn pitched the 5th inning with one walk and one strikeout to close out the game.

The Wildcats return to action on Friday at home against Metamora.
