4-29-08 vs. Bloomington Raiders
Wildcats roll past Purple Raiders The Normal West Wildcats thawed out from yesterday's game in time to handle the Bloomington Purple Raiders 12-2 on a cool, but calm spring day at Parkside field. Kyle Vaughn had the Purple Raiders in complete control throughout the game, allowing only two hits and one walk in going the distance on the mound. He struck out six and only allowed one earned run on a 6th inning home run after an error. The Wildcats bats were steady throughout the game as well, producing runs in every inning except the 4th. A Jacob Null single drove in Adam Seifert, who had walked, with the first run in the bottom of the 1st inning. A Kevin Henkels double leading off the 2nd inning got things going towards two more runs. Zack Boicken got on base with a hit in the 3rd inning and worked his way around to score on a Brandon Herzog single. In the 5th inning, three walks sandwiched around three hits by Kevin Henkels, Erik Sipes and Trey Rogers led to four more runs. The Wildcats closed out the game in the 6th inning with four runs that included singles by Henkels and Herzog and several more walks. Kevin Henkels led the way for the Wildcat hitters with three hits, while Jacob Null and Brandon Herzog added two each. The Wildcats upped their record to 12-6 ahead of tomorrow contest against the Urbana JV team down at Urbana at 4:30. Actual baseball weather is expected.
