A WEEK IN ADVISORY

Monday:  Every Monday Matters
Monday used to be the least favorite day of the week.  FMP wants to change that!  Each Monday the FMPs and freshmen will have an opportunity to participate in an activity that can and will make a difference in someone's life.

Tuesday:  Homework/Study Skills

This is the day where the freshmen will work on homework or other assignments in their advisory.  The faculty advisor and FMP will help both to tutor and to facilitate discussion of school related topics during this time.

Wednesday:  Student Support
This is a time where an assigned Normal West guidance counselor or building administrator will facilitate discussion of important issues in the FMP advisories.  Such topics might include transitioning from middle school to high school, career planning, dealing with peer pressure, etc.

Thursday:  Activity Day
Thursday is a day where the FMP's and their freshmen engage in an activity to enhance communication, academic and team building skills.

Friday:  Weekly Wrap-Up
On Fridays, the Freshman Mentors will help wrap up the week by discussing issues that arose during that week, as well as prepare the freshmen for the upcoming activities of the weeks to follow.  This is also a time when the freshmen can share issues and concerns they might have with their FMPs and to discuss upcoming school events.
