NCHS softball takes two from Danville

Normal Community’s softball team had an
11-run fifth inning and the one-hit pitching of Megan
Nonnemacher (14-0) to overwhelm host Danville, 17-5, in the
first game of a twin bill Saturday. NCHS also won the second
game, 5-4, improve to 23-1 overall and 10-0 in the Big 12
Conference.
The Ironmen pounded out 18 hits in the first game. Katie Lutes
had three hits to drive in six runs while Kimmy Hassel had four
hits to drive in three runs. Kaity Crane drove in two runs with
three hits while Shayla Hoenes had four hits and one RBI.
Nonnemacher struck out nine and walked one.
In the second game, Lauren Kao drove in three runs with two hits
while Jessi Smith had two hits and two RBI for NCHS.
Bailey Franklin (5-0) fanned nine and walked none in 5 2/3
innings before giving way to Lindsay Stotler, who got the save
as she struck out three and walked none in 1 1/3 innings.
