Wellness Corner for the Month of December 2007

DID YOU KNOW…35% of elementary children eat no fruit and 20% eat no vegetables on a given day. Expand your child’s diet and introduce more fruits and vegetables!
Throughout the day, be sure to make food selections from all foods groups. It is important to balance your choices and include a variety of foods to ensure you are getting all the necessary nutrients, vitamins, and minerals.
  • Plan meals ahead to ensure that a variety of foods are eaten throughout the week.
  • Try not to get stuck in a rut and include a variety of fruits, vegetables, grains, meats, poultry, meat alternatives, dairy products, etc.
  • Every time you grocery shop, buy a new food and introduce it to the family. Have the children help prepare the food and they may be more willing to try it.
