The Marching Uniform provided by NCHS consists of:

Jacket and Pants 

 Hat (with hat box)

Garment bag for storage of uniform

The Student provides the following uniform items:

2 pairs of black gloves [also available at the Music Shoppe]

White boxer shorts for girls and boys

White (plain) t-shirt for girls and boys

White tube socks [no markings]

UNIFORM CARE INSTRUCTIONS

1. JACKET

• Dry Clean only if needed.

• Air dry before storing in bag to prevent mold.

• Leave bag unzipped when storing at home.

• Use regular metal hangers - plastic break.

2. PANTS

• Check pants after each performance and if needed dry clean right away so you will get them back before the next event

• Hanson's Cleaners on Vernon Avenue in Normal are the NCHS band

uniform cleaners. They will give you a 10% discount on cleaning of band pants or uniform.

• Hang with creases together.

3. BAND SHIRT AND GLOVES

• Wear band shirt or another appropriate white t-shirt under jacket.

• Have extra pair of gloves inside jacket.

4. WHITE BOXER SHORTS 

 • Always wear all white boxer shorts under your street clothes so you will

be prepared to dress on the bus!

5. SHOES AND WHITE SOCKS

• Write your name in shoes with permanent marker.

• Keep shoes clean by using cotton balls and nail polish remover.

• Wear white socks-no colored trim.

• Do not put shoes in garment bag because they will rip the bag.

• Wash shoelaces with laundry soap.

6. HAT

• Adjust fit if needed using string inside hat and the chin strap.

• Do not turn hat upside down on top of sheet music. The black ink can

transfer onto the hat and will not come off.

• All hair must be under the hat. Use rubber band and bobby pins if necessary.

7. GARMENT BAG

• Hang uniform in bag with metal hanger opening towards nametag after

each use. This is necessary when uniforms are stored on the truck.

• Leave bag unzipped during storage to prevent mold.

• No Shoes in bag.

8. MISCELLANEOUS

• Double check before leaving home that you have all uniform pieces.

• Do not wear nail polish or jewelry to field show competitions because

judges will deduct points.

• Do not mark or put tape on the garment bag or hat box.
