The Color Guard is a non-musical section of the Marching Ironmen that 

provides an additional visual representation of the music performance using 

elements like costumes, props, synchronized spinning of flags, rifles, sabres, 

and various styles of dance.  

Winter Guard is a competitive group that is similar to the 

Color Guard. The Winter Guard makes use of the same elements 

as the Color Guard but performs on its own to recorded music 

of various styles and genres.  

Performances take place on a 

high school gym floor with a tarp covering that is usually 

painted to add to the overall visual performance.  

The Winter Guard competes in competitions throughout the
