NCHS CHOIR TEACHERS

 
 

Ben Luginbuhl

 

Mr. Luginbuhl is currently in his 12th year of teaching vocal music at Normal Community High School.  During his tenure, he has also taught chorus at Chiddix Jr. High and Kingsley Jr. High.  Ben is the director of the NCHS Treble Choir, Men's Choir, and Chamber Choir, and teaches AP Music Theory.  He is also director of the NCHS Madrigal Singers, Jazz Choir, Court Singers, and a men's doo-wop ensemble called "The Missing Links."  He received his Bachelor of Music Education degree, with highest honors, from the University of Illinois, and received a master's degree in Education Administration from Illinois State University.  This year, he is working towards becoming a National Board Certified Teacher.

Ben has served as President for IMEA District 3 and is currently the IMEA District 3 Senior Chorus Co-Chair.  He has  been the guest conductor of the IMEA Districts 2 & 8 All-District Junior Chorus, as well as several junior high and  high school conference choir festivals throughout the state.  He is also an active adjudicator.

A native of Roanoke, Illinois, Ben, his wife Kristy, and sons Cade & Cole reside in Bloomington.  Ben and Kristy are excitedly waiting to meet their new daughter, Charis, who they will be adopting from South Korea this school year!

Jo Lynn Robinson

 

Mrs. Robinson received her Bachelor's degree in Music Education and Master's of Music in Piano at Eastern Illinois University.  This is her 26th year of teaching in the Unit 5 school system at Normal Community High School and Chiddix Junior High School.  Prior to that, she taught general music in the Miami, Florida, Dade County Public Schools and 2 years for Bloomington District 87.  In addition to directing the Women's Chorale at NCHS, she is also director of the musical, Table for Twelve--an a capella girls group at NCHS, a girls ensemble--the 'Treble Makers' at Chiddix, and a boys ensemble at Chiddix called 'Music Men'.   She is also the director of all curricular choirs at Chiddix.

Mrs. Robinson and her husband Mark, an elementary principal at Fox Creek, have two sons--Jason and Jared, and a dog, Bentley.  They reside in Bloomington.
