Monday, Oct. 26:

• Opera or "Not"pera (can you identify who opera singers are and who aren't?)

• A brief history of opera

  • Powerpoint

  • Worksheet (fill in the blanks from the power point)

Tuesday, Oct. 27:

• In-depth information on the plots of the operas / scenes where the music we are singing takes place

Wednesday, Oct. 28

• Vocal Mechanism – Creating Resonance in the Voice

  There are four main ways to create resonance in the voice.

  1.       Start by opening the lips.

  2.       Next, lower your jaw.

  3.       Lift the soft pallet, which is the soft part on the roof of your mouth, behind the hard part. You can achieve this by creating a “Yawn” like feeling in the back of the mouth.

  4.       Lower the larynx – in order to do this act like you are biting into a large apple. You should be able to feel it move slightly down. It will not move much, probably around a ½  of an inch.
