Dear Parent or Guardian:                                                                                                    January 28, 2009

Due to the high number of ineligible athletes and frequency of repeat offences, I have decided
to make a change to the ineligibility policy for wrestlers.  For the remainder of the season, the
policy is as follows:

Timeline for eligibility reporting and eligibility period (School Policy)

Wrestling Eligibility Policy

·         Wrestlers with 1 “D” are still eligible to participate and compete.

·         Wrestlers with 2 or more “D’s”, or 1 or more “F’s” are ineligible.

o   When they are ineligible, they will be suspended from practice, meets, and tournaments.
(They are permitted to come to practice on picture day, Jan 28th)

o   The following Monday, they will be expected to return to wrestling practice (unless they are still ineligible).

o   They are dropped to the bottom of their depth chart.

o   They will need to turn in their varsity jacket

o   They will be assigned fun clubs upon return to practice.

·         Wrestlers that are ineligible 3 times between now and the remainder of the season may be removed from the team.

o   Please do not assume a wrestler has been removed from the team.  I will send a letter home upon dismissal.

o   Because this policy is starting at this point in the season, any and all occurrences of ineligibility prior
to this reporting week (Wed the 28th) will be counted as only 1 offense.

·         I’m interested in updating this policy further by starting a wrestler specific tutoring program if someone is
willing to find and organize volunteer tutors and chaperones.

Thank you,
