In Attendance: Diana Holderby, Vickie Robertson, Lynette Mehall, Christy Farnsworth, Joette Cole, Emilie Shoop, Amy Randazzo, Krissy Ort, Lori Wisniewski, Susan Erickson, Adrienne Moore, Mindy Vaugh, Sandy Kohlhase, Angela Onysio, Joanne Glancy

 

Meeting Called to Order at 7:06 p.m.  Introductions were made around the table

Sandy Kohlhase made motion to approve minutes.  Lori Wisniewski seconded.

Treasurer’s Report/Amy Randazzo & Trish Stites

-Current balance is approximately $20,775

-We have taken in $4,606 more than we’ve spent.  And we have not tapped into our reserve from last year as of yet.

-Sandy Kohlhase and Amy discussed the matter of $224 in insufficient funds that need to be collected

-Report approved

 

Principal’s Report/Dr. Mehall

-“Drums, Girls and Dangerous Pie” is a book that the entire school is reading.  Teachers reading it at a specified time each day.  All classes except PE.  There has been lots of good discussion on the content of the book.

-This book sharing leads the school into

*Family Reading Night on Monday, November 19

Open house style evening that will also feature games, representatives from the Lymphoma and Leukemia Society.  The book focuses on a sibling suffering from cancer. 

*Sack lunches available for $1 eac

*Storyteller Mike Lockett

*Bands performing in cafeteria

*Children’s Discovery Museum on hand

*Guest readers from Prairie Thunder and IWU

*Book Fair

*Library representative

 

-Team 7-3 went to one room schoolhouse at ISU for field trip

-Team 7-1 raked leaves for Kingsley neighborhood houses

-Skyward news:  Some challenges with this system.  Grades will not be posted necessarily every day. Teachers cannot do it that often, in general.

-“School Reach” system was demonstrated to Unit 5.  Dr. Mehall is on the CAC security committee.  This system is used to notify parents about bus accidents, snow days and security emergencies.  Would cost approximately $2.50 per student to purchase.

-SAT 10 scores are being mailed

-After-school program has 30 attendees consistently to get extra help in math and reading

-7th/8th grade girls basketball has started

-$450 has been raised for United Way

-Career fair was held at Interstate Center for 8th graders.  Somewhat unorganized, but good overall

-Current enrollment is 1,006-Currently have 45 ESL students

Spending Committee:

 

-Approved additional monies for four more flass pieces for display cases for a total expenditure of $1,704.93

-Still working on specifics regarding scrolling sign

 

Teacher Representative/Stacy Threlfall

-Ms. Threlfall is recuperating from surgery at home

 

Vice President’s Report/Diana Holderby

-No report

Box Tops/Brenda Drury

-No Report

Assemblies/Yadira Ruiz

-No Report

 

Concessions/Mary Cranston

-Too many leftovers lately.  Sandy will change quantities

 

President’s Report/ Christy Farnsworth(current)

 

Directory/Mindy Vaugh

-Directories are available for pick-up in office.

-Some discussion regarding privacy issues and how to only include names of people who have specifically asked to be included.  As opposed to including everyone by default unless you indicate you do not want to be in the book.

-Also, we may start including email addresses

 

Hospitality/Shannon Tobin, Susan Erickson, Justine Wheeler

-Two nice lunches recently on 10/19 and 10/26 with great donations and lots of volunteers

-Friday, December 14 will be a staff breakfast with casseroles coming from food service and coffee cakes donated by volunteers

 

Membership

-Current membership stands at 346 paid members

 

PBIS/Joette Cole/Joely McCaw

-Joette reported that kids have requested lanyards

-Selling t-shirts might be popular

-Need to confirm quantities required for prizes. Dr. Mehall said that 250 were required for 8th graders to go to Six Flags

-Need to get more small Gatorades and fruit snacks.  These are very popular

 

Volunteers/Lori Wisniewski

-Volunteers will be needed for Family Reading Night.  Lori will send out emails

also for December luncheon—names to Susan Erickson

Spirit Wear/Angela Onysio

-Angela reported that the campaign is going on now. Orders out and must be turned in by Friday, November 16

-The window clings are not selling at all.  Only one ordered

-Much discussion regarding sizing and accurate portrayal of sizes so customers can order properly

 

Team Parents/Joanne Glancy/Emily Shoop

-Going well

 

Old Business

-More discussion on PBIS and concerns on equitable distribution between classes.  Automatically get 25 for honor roll.  20 for not going to the office during the year
