Here are just a few of the counseling services that we provide.

Small Groups & Individual Counseling

We provide small group & individual counseling based upon student needs and referrals. 

Student Ambassador Program

We assign a student ambassador to assist new students in the transition from another school to Kingsley.  Ambassadors help students get familiar with the building and their new class schedules.

Character Building

We work with students to develop respect for themselves and others through in class presentations and small groups.

Career Assessment

Counselors discuss with students their area of interests and develop their 4-year high school plan based upon their career choices.  Students also participated in an on-line career assessment, which is saved to their personal portfolios.  Their career preferences are sent to the high school, during their 8th grade year, to assist the high school counselors with academic planning for each student.

ISU Mentoring Program

 

Once again some of our 8th grade students will be involved with the ISU Mentoring Program.  An 8th grade student is paired with an ISU student who will come to Kingsley once a week to provide tutoring assistance to that student.  This usually will take place during a homeroom or study hall period.

During the school year we encourage the mentors to talk about college and even provide our students with information regarding programs available at ISU.  This is to encourage our students to begin thinking about possible careers they might want to begin investigating.

In the spring all Kingsley and ISU Mentors will be taking a walking field trip to ISU for a tour of the campus.  Our students will have the opportunity to visit some of the academic buildings, the library, and even visit a dorm room.  Once the tour has been completed, we will then be treated to lunch in one of the cafeterias.  After lunch there will be a guest speaker who will talk to our students on the importance of getting good grades and to challenge them to begin thinking about their own future goals.
