   Important Dates - Progress Reports Mailed - September 19, November 21, February 6, & April 24.  Quarter Grades Mailed - October 24, January 9, March 20, and after the last day of school.

 

SAT and ISAT Testing

Sat 10 Testing for 6th, 7th, and 8th graders will be Monday, September 8th - Friday, September 12th

OLSAT Testing  for 7th graders will be Monday, September 8th - Friday, September 12th

ISAT Testing for all grades will be Monday, March 2 - Friday, March 13th

 

Tutoring Opportunity

Project Dream is offering  a free tutoring program.  The purpose of this program is to foster educational excellence through tutoring and promote character enrichment.  It will be on a first come - first serve basis.  It is open to the entire community of Bloomington/Normal.  The students will take place every Friday from 5 to 7:30 pm.

 

The Grand Opening will be September 19th with registration begining at 5:00 pm at Heartland Community College, 1500 West Raab Road, Normal, IL 61761.

 

8th Graders Registering for High School Classes Parent Information

The high school counselors from NCHS and NCWHS will be at Kingsley on Thursday, December 18th from 9:00 to 10:00 am to talk with our 8th grade students about registering for their freshman classes.  Out students will be divided up by the high school they will attending.  Course description books and general information will be passed out at that time.

 

The KJHS 8th graders will be registering for their freshman classes January 13th through January 16th.  Prior to registration, your student will be receiving recommendations from their 9th grade math, science, and foreign language placement (if applicable).  Please feel free to have your student go to www.unit5.org/diambrid/KingsleyFreshmanScheduleBuilder.html to practice putting together their class choices for the school year 2009-2010.

 

Freshman Orientation Meetings for our current 8th Graders

The Freshman Orientation Meetings for NCWHS and NCHS will be on Wednesday, January 7th. The NCWHS Meeting will be from 7:00 to 8:45 p.m. and the NCHS Meeting will be from 6:30 to 9:00 p.m.

   4 Year Plans - 8th graders schedule your 4 year plan for high school with your counselor starting in January.  The 4 year plan meeting will cover courses that you may want to take for a specific career choice and/or college program.  The 4 year plan meetings will take approximately one hour.

  Honor Roll - The Honor Roll is posted after each nine-week grading period.  It is posted in each classroom and students will be receiving a little award of accomplishment.  Students must attain all A's for High Honors and A's & B's for regular Honors.

  Career Cruising - Career Cruising is a comprehensive and interactive career guidance resource.  It includes in-depth profiles of hundreds of different careers, detailed information on colleges and universities, and multimedia interviews with real people in every career.  Students may also want to check out Exploring Career Information from the Bureau of Labor Statistics.

  Counselor Appointments - The best time for students to see a counselor is before or after school, homeroom, study hall, and lunch time.  Parents can call (309-888-6910) to set individual appointments.

   Illinois Standardized Achievement Test - The Illinois State Board of Education has posted a sample test on-line at ISAT Sample Tests and has other information standardized testing information at ISAT.   Testing dates will be March 12 - March 22 for the seventh and eighth grades.  Sixth grade students will be taking the SAT (Stanford Achievement Test)/OLSAT (Otis-Lennon School Ability Test) between September 11-18.

   Classroom Visits - The counselors visit each classroom to get acquainted with our students and explain the services that the counseling office provides.  In addition counselors attend weekly team meetings to assist in the academic achievement of all students.
