Course Overview Eighth grade students experience the visual art rotation for nine weeks The three units of study offered are tailored to align with the Unit 5 high school art program. Art history, critical thinking, aesthetics and products are the threads of learning that are woven throughout the visual art course of study. Students are responsible for their learning and self-evaluate often. Students maintain a portfolio throughout the rotation and are responsible for sharing their portfolio as evidence of their learning. KJHS received a Beyond the Books grant in 2005. This grant provided money to implement an interdisciplinary unit of study engaging students in reading Chasing Vermeer, exploring Pentominoes in Math and creating an Aqua-wash drawing in Art. |
