Chante Stonewall led the team with 16 rebounds and 14 points. Teammates
Brooke Zadoks pulled down 5 rebounds and Courtney Wiegand scored 7 points to
aid in the victory. The Cavs play Parkside on Monday night.
Seen you there!

The Kingsley
Cavaliers 7th Grade Boys Basketball team improved to
2-0 this season with opening wins against Champaign Edison and Pekin
Broadmoor. The team faces intercity rival Bloomington next Thursday at
BJHS, so please try to come out and support the Cavs.
The 8th grade boys basketball team has started this
season off on the right foot by picking up wins over Champaign Edison and
Pekin Broadmoor. The Cavs used a strong second half in both games to
build double digit leads. The coaches are very proud of how the boys
battled adversity in their road win against Pekin. Keep up the hard
work!
Do you have extra
school supplies sitting in your locker? Are they new and unused? Bring them
to lunch and donate them to the Student Council. During your lunch hour
November 9th – 13th. Student Council members will
collect them during lunch hours. We are looking for new and undamaged school
supplies like rulers, folders, notebooks, crayons, markers, glue, hand
sanitizer, etc. For each item you bring in you will get a CAV Cash. We will
assemble a basket for the Festival of Trees and any additional donations will
be given to the Baby Fold.
Attention all Cross
Country Athletes
– please turn in your uniforms as soon as possible to Mrs. Heyungs in the
main office!
Look down at your
desk. Do you have your book, paper, and something to write with? If you’re in
P.E. right now, do you have your P.E. clothes smelling clean and ready to
go? If you are a student who can come to class prepared with all the
materials you need then be on the lookout for the new, exciting yellow Cav Cash.
Yellow Cav Cash will be awarded without warning to students who bring all
necessary materials to class. You can use these yellow Cav Cash to
enter to win a free pizza lunch during your lunch period. You won’t
know when and you won’t know where, but be ready. Because yellow Cav Cash
is coming to a prepared student soon and it just may be you!
Have
you noticed the plastic bins located at the entrance to
KJHS? The Environment
Club recycles year-round aluminum tabs for St. Jude's
Children's Hospital, dead batteries to keep them out of our landfill,
eyeglasses to send to Africa, and empty printer cartridges to refill. Please
place these items in the designated bins and help us recycle trash for
treasure. Also, we will collect used cell phones for Neville House, a
local shelter for abused women and their children. Cell phone should be
brought directly to room 161A and given to Mrs. Miskulin.
CAVS
don't forget to recycle your empty aluminum cans and
plastic bottles every day after your lunch. A container has been
provided for you to empty unfinished beverages. Thank you for
continuing to recycle as KJHS goes GREEN!!
Flyer
Policy
Unit 5 has adopted a new flyer policy. We cannot accept flyers from outside
organizations at KJHS or pass them out to students. These flyers are
available on our district website at http://www.unit5.org/flyers
*Parents – If your child is
interested in trying out for ANY athletic
team they must be
cleared through the main office before the first day of try-outs! Coaches do
not handle ANY paper work
for the athlete other than collecting their goldslip, which lets them know
that they have been cleared. Students need the following items turned into Ms. Heyungs: copy of current physical
(physicals are good for one year from the date of the physical and must get
them through the entire season of the sport), copy of Birth Certificate on
file, and an Athletic Permission form which are available in the main office
or on-line at www.unit5.org/kjhs/
Office hours are 7:15- 3:45
M-F (452-4461). If you have any questions, please contact Ms. Heyungs at HeyungsL@unit5.org
or 888-6904.
A
message from the Guidance Office: Parents, at any time if your address or
phone number(s) changes, please notify Mrs. Dierkes at 888-6910 immediately so
your child’s information in Skyward will be current. Incorrect information
results in a delay in our staff contacting you either by phone, mail, or
SchoolReach. Thank you!
*Parents Only – If you are
reporting an absence, late arrive or early dismissal, you must call the attendance hotline at
888-6905. This number is
open 24 hours a day! By doing so, your
student will be ready and waiting for you to be picked up in the main
office. Failure to do this results in a delay for the parent!
Parents must come into the office to sign their student in or out of the
building. We do not accept handwritten notes from home for any type of absence
at the junior high level. Thank you for your support.
