Introduction
Extra, extra! Read all about it! Broadcast Journalism is a growing field, as
more and more networks are developing their own News' segment. It does not
matter what kind of news you are looking to find. There are broadcasts
that focus on local events, national, world, sports, entertainment, and so much
more.
Task
Become a Broadcast Journalist:
You will be assigned to a Broadcast Team.
Your team will be responsible for creating a 10-minute broadcast of news that will be "aired" on our Thursday broadcast.
You will be responsible for writing a news summary and turning that in on a weekly basis for the topic that you are covering that week.
Process
1. For each week of the Broadcast Journalism unit, you will:
- Locate an intriguing article about a current event in your research area.
- Use SQ3R to identify the main ideas and important aspects of that article to present in your Team's Broadcast.
- Write a 1-3 paragraph summary (to be used as your broadcast) about your researched current event.
- As a team, you will write an outline for your "aired" broadcast. This outline must tell the order in which people will present, and the topic of their presentation with a one-sentence summary.
2. Using the links provided, as well as the ones you find, gather research and information that you need to complete the project.
3. Decide as a team how you are going to present the project.
- Write an outline with one-sentence summary
- Do you need any visuals?
4. Compile the information into a presentation outline to turn in as a team.
5. Compile the information into a 1-3 paragraph summary to turn in independently.
