Mrs. Deanna Perkins

 

I have taught for Unit 5 since the 2002-2003 school year.  I am the Instructional Teacher on Team 8-1 and also serve as the Special Education Building Chair. 

 

I taught at Blue Ridge Junior High in Mansfield, Illinois from December of 1997 until May 2001.   

 

I received my Bachelor's Degree in Special Education from Illinois State University in December of 1997.

 

I completed my Master's Degree in Special Education at Illinois State in May of 2005.

 

My husband, Russell, is originally from Alabama, and he attended Auburn University.

 

Some of my favorite activities are reading, watching movies, and spending time with my husband and daughters.

 

I have two daughters.  Maggie is 4, and Natalie is 1. 

 

I am certified as a Learning Behavior Specialist I with concentrations in Learning Disabilities, Social/Emotional Disorders, Educable Mentally Handicapped, and Standard Self-Contained Elementary.  I have a Learning Behavior Specialist II certificate in the area of Curriculum Adaptation.  I also have a Master Teaching Certificate in the area of Special Education. 

 

I am a National Board Certified Teacher.  I pursued National Boards in the area of Exceptional Needs Specialist, Early Childhood through Young Adult.
