Grade Communication/Skyward
The teachers on team 6-4 keep the students informed of their grades usually on a weekly or bi-weekly basis in some classes. The students are responsible for their grades and will be bringing home grade sheets either weekly or bi-weekly for a parent signature. (Please note, the teachers do not double check for accuracy unless a student or parent has a specific question. The papers should also be coming home with the updated grade sheet, so please refer to them as well.) Your child's homeroom teacher will let you know when to expect a grade/point total sheet to come home.
As many of you are aware, the Skyward grading system is available for parents to review. The teachers on our team do not update grades on a daily basis. Also, many times grades aren't entered until over the weekend when the teachers have more time to enter them. The following is a portion of a letter written on October 15, 2007 by Dr. Mehall regarding Skyward. It provides staff, parents, and students some guidelines regarding the use of Skyward.
2007-2008 is the first year for Skyward Access to teachers' grade books. We are pleased that so many parents are using Skyward Gradebook to check on their students' grades. Here is some information to help you in understanding how Skyward Gradebook works:
Grades will not be updated daily.
Teachers will update grades on varying schedules.
Here are some additional ways you may keep up on your child's grades:
Check team websites for homework assignments.
Check your child's assignment notebook daily.
Many teachers use grade sheets, so when papers are returned, the scores are written on this sheet, and students are able to determine their current grades.
Check your child's homework at night to see if it is completed.
Use the assignment notebook to communicate questions about homework completion to teachers.
Check Skyward regularly. If you do not know your password please contact the guidance office.
