Dear Parents,
This week has flown by. We have been busy reading about how seeds grow, Thanksgiving stories during guided reading, and The Candy Corn Contest. Next week we will not have a spelling test since we only have 2 days of school. We will be taking a Thanksgiving spelling test just for fun on Monday.
We finished up Unit 5 this week in math. The hands on activities with shapes were a lot of fun. We are using the rest of the week to review some of our prior math concepts. When we come back from Thanksgiving break we will be ready to start Unit 6.
We have been learning a lot about the Pilgrim’s voyage to America in Social Studies this last week. We will be starting our unit on Antarctica in December. We will also be starting unit 4 in science.
We are having our Thanksgiving feast on Monday along with our Sleepover party so it should be a very fun time in second grade.
If you have not already done so, please send in your child’s field trip money for the Nutcracker. Sorry, we do not have anymore spaces left for chaperones.
Your child’s report card came home today. Please look over it with your child, sign the green card and return on Monday. Remember that these grades are based on the things that they have been working on for just this trimester.
We will not have a news letter next week so we want you to have a safe and Happy Thanksgiving!
