Sra. Horton visiting Miami's Cuban District

(March 2006)

¡Hola! Me llamo Sra. Horton. Soy maestra de español en la escuela de Parkside. ¡Los quiero a mis estudiantes mucho!

This is my tenth year of teaching Spanish...all in Unit 5.  I spent four years teaching Spanish at Normal Community West High School and Parkside Junior High School. Now, I devote my time to teaching only at Parkside. Go Pythons! I enjoy the middle school environment and love getting to know all of my students!

I earned my Spanish Education degree at Illinois State University in 1998. I have a passion for the Spanish language and culture. I am now working on my master's degree in Curriculum and Instruction at ISU. During my college years, I traveled to both Mexico and Spain. Since then, I've enjoyed many travel experiences to Mexico and Costa Rica. I recently spent some time in Miami's Cuban district.

Enjoying Calle Ocho (Eighth Street) in Miami.

Some of my favorite things: Playing tennis is a huge pastime for me! Good Mexican    food, Spanish artwork, the band Switchfoot, being crafty, baking, and watching the Cubs beat the Cards are all things I enjoy. Go Cubbies- magic number is 2!!!!!
