Did
you know the
Hoose Chess Club
has won many
state and
national awards?
Did you know
over 250
students in
grades K-8 from
over 20 schools
compete in local
tournaments held
throughout the
fall, winter,
and spring?
Students do not
need to know how
to play chess
ahead of time to
join. Lessons
for beginners
through advanced
players are
available for
those that want
to come and
learn.
There will be an
informational
and sign-up
meeting for
players and
parents on
September 24 at
3:00 in the
South Gym.
Regular meetings
will be held on
Wednesdays from
3:00-4:15
beginning
October 8. There
will be no
meeting on
October 1.
Please note this
is not an after
school/child
care program.
Members will be
required to
participate in
chess
activities. Any
"Rule of the
Ranch" in place
at Hoose also
applies to the
Chess Club.
There is a $40
membership fee
($50 for family)
for all students
(scholarships
are available).
These dues will
pay for
structured
weekly lessons
as well as other
materials that
can be used at
home.
Membership may
be limited due
to space
constraints at
Hoose and will
be determined by
the number of
volunteers we
have to help
with the club.
Parents do not
need to know how
to play chess to
help with the
club.
Please contact
hoosechess@yahoo.com
to volunteer or
with any
questions.
