Hoose Joins Coins for Kids Program
04|20|09   —  from Kersten Wilson - Hoose Parent

We are so excited to once again kick off “Coins for Kids”, an event not only designed to support the programs and services at Easter Seals but to also provide disability awareness to all students.  This program is especially meaningful because one of our Hawks, McKinley Wilson, is a recipient of Easter Seals Services.

This program shows young students the importance of philanthropic endeavors and helps build a sense of community and self esteem.  Children making a difference feel great about their results!  The program is extremely simple to execute and will be easy to work into your day.

For one week’s time, students are encouraged to collect coins for Easter Seals. Each student will be given a small container that holds coins of all sizes.  The students will bring in their containers as soon as they are full and will place the coins into their large classroom container. We are encouraging the students to refill their containers as many times as possible!

The class that raises the most money from each school will receive a pizza party which will be arranged for by our parent rep, Kersten Wilson.  In addition to the coin collection, there is a short education piece that can be read each day to help students become more educated on the different types of disabilities people have.

It is the mission of Easter Seals to help children and adults with disabilities, and their families, lead lives of Equality, Dignity and Independence.  Last year, Easter Seals provided services to over 10,000 families in Central Illinois.
