On
the sixth
anniversary of the
war in Iraq, local
grade schoolers
receive an honor for
their special
support the
troops.Students from
Colene Hoose
Elementary in Normal
have written to
soldiers stationed
overseas for the
past three years.
They have also
prepared gift
packages as part of
State Farm's Adopt a
Soldier program.
Sharon McCauhley of
State Farm's Adopt a
Soldier Program
said, "Our donations
have been a bit low
not bad though with
the economy but this
will be a huge boost
to out donations so
we are very grateful
for these kids for
doing this in
Leisa's class and
for getting the
whole school
involved."
After returning
home, some of the
members of the
military have
visited the students
to thank them for
their support.
Today a military
support group
honored the school
kids with the Seven
Seals Award for
their service to the
men and women
serving our country.
