Young Authors Cross the Finish Line
03|02|09   —  Vicki Good, Young Authors Coordinator

The purpose of the Young Authors program is to support and honor our young writers who are challenged to apply the writing skills they are learning in their classrooms. All participants come together to celebrate writing at our annual Young Authors Celebration in April. Every writer will be recognized and some books receive special recognition at an April 24th assembly held in the North Gym (9:30 K-2 and 1:30 Grades 3-5)

Judging for Young Authors takes the following criteria into consideration:

  • Interest and appeal to children

  • Originality

  • Creativity

  • Visual Quality

  • Content

Each year, a "Final Four" from Hoose is selected for participation in a district-wide competition. Congratulations to the following Hawks for being selected as the 2009 Young Author representatives:

  • Anne Rich (4MN) - "The Playlist Club"

  • Anakin Fox (3E) - "Paper to Life"

  • Bailey Jones (4N) - "The Puffin"

  • Nathan Witte (3E) - "Angel's Adventure"

Great job to all of our Young Authors. See you all at our celebration in a few weeks!
