This is one of those books that you don’t want to know what’s going to happen next.  Do you like books like that?  I Do.  The Boy Who Owned the School was written by one of the best known authors, Gary Paulsen.

The main character in this book, Jacob Freisten, has just started high school and he is not very popular.  Jacob has other problems too.  He likes this girl but she is popular and his is a nerd and at this school if you get noticed the popular people will pick on you.  He has to be in a school play as a punishment from one of his teachers.  He gets a part in it with a girl that he likes, so he gets really nervous.    The same day he ran into her in gym class.  Will he survive the school year?

This book is a pretty good book.  It is a fast pace book because it only has 85 pages in it.  So you could put it down for a week and still get into the book.  I thought the book was pretty funny; it made me laugh.  I would recommend reading it to anyone in the sixth grade.
