Guy Time
Sarah Weeks
Realistic Fiction
“What guy time?” Guy asks. Guy Time is a book about a teenage boy going through a tough time in his life. Sarah Weeks, the author, did a great job of expressing the character’s emotions in this wonderful realistic fiction book. Sarah Weeks knows the young boy’s feelings because she has two sons of her own.
Guy Strange is having problems. His parents are getting a divorce. And, a girl likes him and he doesn’t know what to do. Guy is a young man in a middle school. A girl named Autumn like him, but Guy’s best friend, Buzz, hates her. Autumn has just asked Guy to go to the movie with her. What’s he going to do? He is so scared. If he doesn’t go with Autumn, she will hate him. If he does, Buzz won’t like him. He tells Autumn he will think about it. When he hasn’t responded in a couple of days, Autumn and her best friend Lana get upset. Lana has a talk with Guy and tells him about guy time. She says, “It’s a time when a guy takes his time letting a girl know what he thinks or feels about something.” Guy’s parents are getting a divorce; his dad has moved to California and doesn’t have time for Guy. Guy’s mom is dating again, which really bothers Buy. The guy his mom is dating is named Brad. Brad stretches fur for clothing. Guy really doesn’t like Brad, so Buzz and Guy try to figure out a plan to get Guy’s parents back together. I wonder if it works?
