Mr.Hill's Illinois Constitution WebQuest

Introduction

This webquest was designed to allow you an opportunity to learn about the Illinois Constitution and also some historical facts concerning Illinois. There are assignments that will be printed, completed, and turned in for evaluation purposes. If completed properly this webquest will prepare you for the required test on the Illinois Constitution.  File all Illinois Constitution assignments under the "Current Unit" section of your portfolio.  All assignments are due on Friday, December 16th, 2005..

Task

Your task is to learn about the history of Illinois, the Illinois flag, and the Illinois Constitution. The information provided in the lesson page section will answer most of the questions on the assignments. There are Internet links which will provide the answer to the rest of the questions. This should be an enjoyable way of learning these facts while at the same time preparing you for the Illinois Constitution test at the conclusion of the unit.  Good luck on your quest!

Process

The webquest is broken down into ten lessons. There is a corresponding webquest packet that goes with the lessons. You will find the packet for the lessons in the "Resources" section on this page. Simply press which lesson you would like to complete. Print out the webquest packet and begin working on it. When you have completed one lesson, you may begin another. Please do the lessons in order and remember to put your name on each assignment.

Some of the answers will not be on the packet. You can find these answers by following the internet links which are given or looking in your Illinois Handbook.

Now it is time to get to work on the assignments. Click on the lesson that you need to complete; remember that you are to complete the assignments in order. Once the correct study guide is on your screen, follow the directions to print out the worksheet. Complete the worksheet using the information in the online study guide. If you cannot find an answer in the study guide, try looking it up on the internet with the links provided.  If you still cannot find the answer, you will have to do it the old fashioned way by looking it up in your textbook!!! Good luck and have fun with this project.

Evaluation

Each assignment will be graded and is worth 10 points. All 11 assignments are due on Friday, December 16th, 2005.  There will be two days of review in class when all of the assignments have been completed prior to the test. Remember, the Illinois Constitution test is a big one.  It will count as 210 points for the quarter.  Taking the Illinois Constitution test is an 8th grade graduation requirement.  The Illinois Constitution test is scheduled for Friday, December 16th, 2005.

Conclusion

Once all of the assignments are finished, if there is still time left in class, you should explore some of the links on Illinois government. Get all of your assignments turned in, so they will be graded and handed back in time for the review. We will review the material for two class periods before the Illinois Constitution examination.
