Math in fourth grade is a whole new
world! We will not be spending much time on time, money,
adding, subtracting...so if your child is still struggling with these
concepts, let me know so I can provide some extra help. You can
expect to see the following concepts this year: geometry; addition and
subtraction of large numbers; landmark numbers: mean, median, and mode;
place value to the hundred-millions; multiplication and division;
comparing, adding and subtracting fractions and decimals; symmetry;
probability; metric and standard measurement; and lots of fact practice. I am happy to help in any way I can. Your student has a great reference called the "SRB" or Student Reference Book. They are encouraged to bring this home whenever they have math homework. In addition, the following websites might be helpful to you and your child. Some are informational and some offer lots of fun games to make practicing facts a bit more enjoyable! |
