| The Closing... |
| When you are done presenting your
information for your Discovery Quest you need to somehow let the
audience know that you're finished. This should be done smoothly
and in a way that goes with the rest of your speech. Here are a
couple of examples of how you can conclude your speech: |
- Give some advice...
"So the next time you are swimming in the ocean, try not to
worry about encountering a shark!"
|
- Reword the beginning...using
the same wording or phrase that you used in your grabber is a nice
way to end your speech. It ties it all together!
|
- End with a quote..."Remember,
'Most sharks seem to be afraid of people,' so don't be afraid to go
into the water."
|
- End with a
question..."How many of you will think twice about going
swimming in the ocean now?"
|
- End with a
feeling..."I was thrilled to share my knowledge of sharks
with you today."
|
|
Hopefully those examples will help you as
you are thinking of how to end your speech. Here is how NOT to end
your speech: |
 |
DO NOT SAY...
- ...and that was my Discovery Quest.
- ...that's it.
- ...I'm done.
- ...the end.
- ...I hope you liked learning
about...
