| Dear Families,
I'd like to take
a moment to introduce myself to you and welcome you to fourth grade at
Fox Creek Elementary. I am a native of Illinois, and grew up in a small
town just outside of Springfield called Pleasant Plains. My high-school
was VERY small...only 44 in my graduating class, so when it was time to
look for colleges, I stuck to my comfort zone. Illinois Wesleyan here in
Bloomington was a perfect fit. The beautiful, tree-filled campus
reminded me of home, while the smaller size did not completely overwhelm
me.
After graduation, I took my first job in a northern
suburb of Chicago, Lake Forest. I taught second grade there for three
years. My husband's schooling brought us back to Normal so he
could attend ISU and I joined the job force in Unit 5. I am in my
twelfth
year of teaching! Wow...time goes quickly when you're having fun! I am
among the original staff of Timberwolves and had the pleasure of opening
a brand new school back in 2001 with my fellow teachers. At Fox Creek, I
have taught first, second, third and fourth grade! (Of course, fourth is
my favorite!)
I have just finished my masters degree. I have a
Masters of Science in Reading from Illinois State University. I have been married for
eleven years to my
college sweetheart, Jack. We have a five year old son named Cy who is
the light of our lives! It's been fun seeing school from the "parent
perspective" this year. We have two kitties named Morgan and Odin.
In my free time I LOVE to read and scrapbook!
That is me in a nutshell! I am so looking forward to
getting to know you and your child this year. I truly believe that by
working together we can achieve great things!
Please do not ever hesitate to contact me with a
question or concern.
Sincerely,
Nicole M. Henderson |
