Dear 4th Grader and Parents,

My name is Mrs. Freitag. I will be your teacher for fourth grade. Our room code is 4F.  Our classroom is room 131.  I have been working hard to get things ready for you.  I can’t wait to meet you on Wednesday.

We have so much to learn this year! You will love being a fourth grader. We will read a lot of wonderful books, and you will get a chance to write a lot of stories on your own. Our year will also be spent learning geometry, fractions, multiplication, division, and measurement. We will learn more about our country. We will also learn more about our earth, animals, weather, electricity, and so much more.

You probably have some of your supplies ready for school. The Unit 5 4th grade supply list includes:

Loose-leaf notebook and paper- (Please purchase wide-ruled paper.)

No. 2 lead pencils

Eraser

Metric/inch ruler

Crayons, 24 or more

Scissors (Fiskars brand works well)

Large Elmer’s glue

Art box- (Please no larger than 11” x 7” – it won’t fit in the desk.)

Large box of facial tissue (We’ll collect and put out for class use.)

Crayola markers-not fine tipped

Colored pencils (set of 12)

Calculator (nothing too technical)

Because of activities that we will do, and to help you stay organized in 4th grade, we would like you to bring these supplies as well:

  • A sturdy 2” three ring binder- It may have a zipper or velcro clasp, but it doesn’t have to.
  • Pocket Dividers (for the binder; these are very important and the pockets are so helpful).
  • 3 pocket folders – any colors
  • Assignment book- available to purchase through me for $4, during the first week of school.
  • Please also bring your choice of antibacterial wipes or a box of ziplock bags (quart or gallon sized)

Here is a picture of a 4th grader binder. We’ll put this together with subject tabs during the first few days of school together.

Well, 4th grader, we will see you on the first half-day of school on Wednesday, August 19th! I hope this will be a special year for you. We will be doing many fun activities.  I am excited about the coming school year and about meeting you!  It is going to be a great year!
