Congratulations on making the decision to learn a foreign language.  Spanish is a beautiful language that is fun to learn.

Tips for succeeding at Spanish:

• If you want to be good at Spanish it is important to find frequent opportunities to enjoy the sound of the language.  If you are unable to interact with native speakers try to find videos, movies, audio recordings, or Spanish television programming so you can hear various models of spoken Spanish.

• Study vocabulary frequently for short 15-20 minute periods. Complete all homework assignments.

• Check out a Take-Home-Tutor from the IMC.  It has a lot of video and audio files in addition to practice quiz and exam exercises.

• Check out available resources.  In addition to your textbook there are hundreds of Spanish websites.  With a quick Google search you can find games, stories, jokes and riddles in Spanish.  Think about the riddles, rhymes, songs, and short stories that helped you to learn your first language.  You can find many of these resources in Spanish with just a few clicks of the mouse.  Check out the Helpful Links page to get started.

• Watch a favorite movie in Spanish or with Spanish subtitles.  Rewind and listen to the phrasing of your favorite lines in Spanish.                                                                                    

• See if there are Spanish versions of any of your favorite songs.

•  

• Purchase Spanish software.  There are many titles for children and adults that are quite reasonably priced.

• 

• Check out the Spanish resources at your public library.
