It is the CAC’s mission to represent
the Unit 5 community by fostering district-wide dialogue
and examining topics of interest.
Citizens Advisory Council
2002-2003 COMPREHENSIVE PLAN FOCUS AREAS
This year’s Citizens Advisory Council focus areas are designed
to culminate in a five-year Comprehensive District Improvement
Plan. The Plan will provide guidance and direction for the
district from the vantage point of its community
representatives.
Curricular Programs

The Unit 5 curriculum and assessment practices are aligned with
the Illinois Learning StandardsEducators have access to
continuous professional development opportunitiesUnit 5 meets
the national mandate of “No Child Left Behind”

Create a Co-Curricular Program designed to:
Develop leadership opportunities for students outside the

Finance
Develop a financial plan that will
Identify areas of foreseeable financial concern and outline

Facilities
Design a comprehensive plan to provide
Safe and educationally appropriate facilities for all

Diversity
Develop a plan to
Increase the retention and achievement of students from

Community Awareness
Create a communication model that will
Promote opportunities for CAC members to act as community
ambassadors for the schoolsProvide a systematic information flow

in the analysis and resolution of issues involving the schools.
