Currently open job positions are stored online in an electronic database. You can search the database by position and keywords for job description, or use the categorized search links found on the left. Job positions are updated daily and should reflect the current open positions within Unit 5.

Teaching Assistant Duties

This list is intended to be a guide to the general nature of duties and activities that may be expected from each category of teaching assistant. This is not a fully inclusive list of responsibilities, but rather provided for information purposes only.

Early Intervention/Early Childhood Education Teaching Assistant 

• Assistance students in classroom environment with academics/centers
• Assistance with feeding
• Assistance with restroom/diaper changing
• Lifting/carrying students
• Restraint of students
• Accompany students on community outreach trips
• Assist students with physical education
• Supervise recess and lunch times (eat with students)
• Accompany students to area classes
• Other duties as assigned by classroom teacher or administration

Resource Learning Disabilities/Instructional Learning Disabilities Teaching Assistant

• Assist students in classroom environment with academics
• Provide one-on-one assistance to individual students
• Pull-out individual or small-groups of students to provide additional instruction/assistance
• Supervise student lunches/recess
• Supervise individual students/small groups during field trips or community outreach programs
• Accompany students to area classes
• Other duties as assigned by classroom teacher or administration

Cognitively Impaired/Educable Mentally Disabled/Trainable Mentally Disabled Program Assistant

• Assist students in classroom environment with academic goals
• Assistance with feeding
• Assistance with restroom/diaper changing
• Lifting/carrying students
• Restraint of students
• Accompany students on community outreach trips
• Assist students with physical education including swimming activities
• Supervise recess and lunch times (eat with students)
• Accompany students to area classes
• Other duties as assigned by classroom teacher or administration 

Behavior Disorders/Adaptive Learning Program/Student Support Program Assistant

• Assist students in classroom environment with academics/behavioral goals
• Provide one-on-one assistance to individual students
• Pull-out individual or small-groups of students to provide additional instruction or assistance with behavioral goals
• Supervise student lunches/recess (eat with students)
• Supervise individual students/small groups during field trips or community outreach programs
• Accompany students to area classes
• Other duties as assigned by classroom teacher or administration
