Our Commitment to Diversity


Unit 5 has made an ongoing commitment to providing an environment that respects diversity among all members of our learning community. District-wide and at the school level, Unit 5 students, staff, parents, and community members are actively engaged in a rich array of programs and initiatives that seek to promote the increased understanding and appreciation of diversity.

In recognition of the persistent need for both reactive and proactive attention to issues of diversity throughout the district, the Diversity Advisory Committee (DAC) was established. To learn more about the DAC, its members, and activities, please visit the DAC webpage.

The Unit 5 Diversity Plan is regularly evaluated and revised by the DAC and adopted by the Board of Education. The Unit 5 Diversity Plan is the formal document that guides and promotes the ongoing articulation, implementation, and evaluation of strategies to address diversity.
