Programs and Activities for 2007-2008

Thursday, March 13th  5:30 - 7:00 p.m.

How to Help my Child With Reading - a night for K-2 families!  We'll begin the evening with dinner for your family. Then while children enjoy a supervised activity, moms and dads will participate in a session designed just for them, with suggestions and activities for how to help your child grow as a reader.  We'll spend some time discussing what does and doesn't work with kids, things to do anytime to help with literacy skills, and we'll make a game or two that you can take with you to play with your child.  Registration will be required so we can plan for dinner and child care.  Information will be coming home in February.

Wednesday, April 16th - Singer/Entertainer Jim Valley will be here for a FREE evening performance for ALL Sugar Creek students and their families. He will be here in the afternoon for two assemblies, and will return for an evening performance.  This is an evening you won't want to miss!

Jim Valley, a Parents' Choice award-winner, is a musician, composer, performer, and artist in involving children in music and movement. His love of music, art and dance is infectious. Through his work in these elements, the underlying thread of universal feelings of self worth, kindness and joy are woven. His song, Rainbow Planet, contains the words, "I am special, you are special, we are special together", the common theme found throughout his music. Jim Valley children's music encourages the audience of children and adults to boost their self-esteem, bond with the human family, and love and honor Planet Earth.

More information about all of these events will be coming home later.
