Multiplying by 10

Multiplying by ten is almost as easy as multiplying by one. When you multiply by 10, you are taking the other number and adding a zero to it.  For example, 10 x 7 = ?

Take 7 and add a 0, so your answer is 70. 10 x 7 =70

Look at the picture below:

A dime is worth 10 cents.  If Kari has 7 dimes, how much money does she have?

The multiplication problem would be 10 x 7 = 70

The picture shows a dime equal to 10 cents, 7 dimes altogether, for a total of 70 cents

Practice multiplying by 10.  Remember to just take the other number and add a zero to it!  That will save you lots of time:)
