Multiplying by 4 |
||||||||||
|
Multiplying by 4 is like doubling a number twice. When you take 2 x 4, you are simply doing 2 x 2 twice. Remember, whenever you multiply by 4, the answer will always be an even number! Look at the array below: There are six Christmas trees. Each tree has four red ornaments on it. How many red ornaments are there in all? The multiplication problem would be 4 x 6 = 24 The array shows seven trees with four red ornaments, for a total of 24 red ornaments

Practice multiplying by 4. Remember that multiplying by 4 is the
same as doing a doubles fact twice in addition. So 4 x 6 is the same as
6 + 6 = 12, so 12 + 12 = 24.
