In an effort to maintain high standards both within and out of the classroom, I have established a simple discipline or classroom management program. Below are four school wide expectations all Oakdale students are expected to follow. We have spent a lot of time discussing these expectations and what they mean in all areas of Oakdale School.
Student behavior will be managed through a check system. Should a student choose not to meet an expectation, he/she will be given a check mark that will be recorded on a clipboard. Below are the consequences for not following expectations. 1 checkmark…….Warning 2 checkmarks …. Lose 5 minutes of recess 3 checkmarks ….Lose all of recess and student will fill out an “I Will” that needs to be signed and returned the next day. 4 checkmarks ….Fill out and “I Will,” miss all of recess, and a call home As part of Oakdale’s school wide behavior program, students may earn Panther Paws for following the four expectations. There is no limit on how many of these they can earn. At the end of each week, our class has a drawing from all of the panther paws. The winner gets a reward from Mrs. Bennington. As a class, we will work toward earning a behavior party by following the expectations throughout the day and working hard. When the class is caught making good choices they will earn a scoop of popcorn kernels in a jar. Once the jar is filled they will earn a popcorn party. My goal is to provide a safe, orderly, and positive learning environment for the students. Thank you for your help in making sure our classroom is where all children can do their very best!
