CJHS IMC Rebecca Caudill Young Readers Book Award

The Rebecca Caudill Young Readers Book Award was created by the Illinois Reading Council, the Illinois School Library Media Association, and the Illinois Association of Teachers of English to honor outstanding literature for young people. Each year, Illinois students in grades 4-8 may vote for their favorite book from a list of 20 well-loved titles selected by students, teachers, and librarians. At Chiddix, all students who read at least 3 titles may vote in February, and they are encouraged, of course, to read all 20 books. Students who read at least 10 books participate in a “voting party" and choose a free paperback book. Students who read all 20 titles receive a $5.00 gift certificate to the spring Scholastic Book Fair and an entry into a drawing for a larger prize (TBA). Students keep track of their reading using the Rebecca Caudill reading log, available in the IMC.
