ReCharge Day – 5/18

All Chargers will meet at CJHS/Anderson Park ALL DAY on Friday, May 18^th. Students will participate in their chosen activities, and lunch and snacks will be provided. CJHS Staff are looking forward to this day of bringing all of the CJHS family back together.

Awards Ceremonies - 5/21
CJHS will honor students at Awards Ceremonies on Monday, May 21st. 7th graders will be honored at Evans Junior High School at 1:00 pm. All 7th graders will attend. 6th graders will be honored at the old ISU Rec Center on Ft. Jesse at 6:00 pm. 8th graders will be honored at the old ISU Rec Center on Ft. Jesse at 7:30 pm.

CJHS Night at the CornBelters - 5/22
Please join us out at the ballpark on the night of Tuesday, May 22nd to celebrate the end of the school year with fellow Chargers and Chiddix staff. Students who participated in the IMC's Curl Up with a Good Book program may redeem their vouchers for free lawn seats for anyone in their family. Additional tickets may be purchased at the box office or by visiting the CornBelters' online ticket site. CJHS will be recognized over the PA. Optional activities include a pre-game parade around the bases and post-game running the bases.

Barnes & Noble Book Fair - 5/23
Join the U5 junior high librarians as we kick off summer reading on May 23rd. At our Fair, we will distribute recommended reading lists, provide information about summer reading programs at the public libraries, and serve as "personal shoppers." When you present this voucher, a percentage of your purchase will be passed along to us, and proceeds will be split between all 4 IMCs. Can't make it to the store on 5/23? Online Registration - coming soon
Online registration will begin on Monday, May 21. Students going into grades 6, 7, and 8 will receive packets with directions and necessary forms. More information to come....

Summer Music Program
Information and registration forms are now available for Unit Five's Summer Music program. The program is open to all band and percussion students currently in 5th-7th grade and string students currently in 5th-8th grade.

Drivers Education
NCHS is offering summer drivers education for students who will be 15 years old by August 20, 2012. More information

Chiddix Update
A lot of planning is underway for construction at Chiddix.

Unit 5 is preparing to replace the old ceiling with a dropped ceiling, and new lighting will also be installed in portions of the school. Floor tiles will also be removed.

In addition to removing the asbestos-containing materials, Chiddix will undergo significant renovations.

These will include:

Installation of carpet in all classrooms
Painting all classrooms
New furniture throughout the school
A final aggressive air sample will be conducted for the Illinois Department of Public Health when the construction is finished.
This work will be completed this summer, and all plans are for Chiddix Junior High School to be open for the first day of school in August.
