First Quarter

MAP (Measurement of academic Progress) Test

MAP Testing for 6th, 7th, and 8th graders was administered in September

Second Quarter

8th Graders Registering for High School Classes

The high school counselors from NCHS will be at Chiddix the week of December 15th to talk with our 8th grade students about registering for their freshman classes. Course description books and general information will be passed out at that time.

Third Quarter

Freshman Orientation

Freshman orientation at Normal Community High School will be January 6, 2009 6:30pm-9:00pm. Please visit the Normal Community High School website for more information.

In January, CJHS counselors will visit 8^th grade classrooms to register students for 9^th grade.  In February, parents will receive a listing of their student’s Freshman course requests in the mail.

ISAT Testing

ISAT Testing for all grades will be Monday, March 1 - Friday, March 12

4 Year Plans

8^th Grade Parents: After the first of the year, call to schedule a 4-year high school planning session with your student’s CJHS counselor. To make an appointment, contact the counseling office administrative assistant at 888-6847. The best time to schedule a 4-year plan would be during the following times:

• 7:15 (before school)
• *During your child’s 30 minute lunch period and part of the class period prior to or following the lunch hour.
• *During 7th hour tutorial (beginning at 1:20) if your child is not enrolled in Music

During the 30-45 minute session, we will discuss your child’s Career Cruising inventory results, consider possible career choices, compare college requirements and plot a course outline for high school. The high school counseling department encourages students to then enter their 4-year plan results into Career Cruising. The plan can be adjusted as your child moves towards graduation. Four-year plan appointments can be scheduled through April.

*Your child will eat his/her lunch in the counseling office during the meeting.
