Flubber
Flubber (aka "Gluep") is a fun material to make for children from 5 - 16 years of age. Children can experiment with different recipes to make the flubber have different physical properties. Flubber is a polymer or plastic-like material. It is the product of cross-linking polyvinyl acetate together.
Slime can be produced by combining 3% polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) solution with 3 % borax solution. Clear Elmer's glue is PVA . My recipe uses 1 cup PVA glue with 1 cup water. The borax solution is 1 tablespoon borax detergent in 1 cup warm water. Slime will be clear and less viscous (more runny) than flubber.
Materials:
White glue (2 cups)
Borax detergent
food coloring
In a large container combine:
1 1/2 cups warm water
2 cups white glue (Elmer's Glue) (polyvinyl acetate)
few drops of food coloring
In a second container, combine:
1 1/3 cups warm water
3 teaspoons Borax detergent (sodium tetraborate)
Mix each container thoroughly.
Pour contents of smaller into larger.
Gently lift and mix with a metal spoon until a Tablespoon of liquid remains.
Let excess liquid dry off - wait a few minutes and FLUBBER will be ready.
Stretch it -
Bounce it-
Roll it-
Store in airtight container for about 3 weeks. Non-edible!
