Polymer

Polymer - large molecules made up of repeating units called monomers.

Polymers are "giant molecules" formed from repeating units (poly = many and mer = parts).  The individual units are called monomers; thousands of these linked together to form a polymer molecule.  "Giant molecules" have high molecular weight.  For example, natural rubber has a molecular weight of 12,000; starch, 40,000; and proteins, 1000-1,000,000.

Molecular weights of polymers, proteins are measured in a unit called Daltons.
