3)  A quantity of gas has a volume of 120 dm³ when confined under a pressure of 93.3 kPa at a temperature of 20^oC.  At what pressure will the volume of the gas be 30 dm³ at 20^oC?

Write given information:

•         V₁  =  120 dm3                                 V₂  =  30 dm3
•         T₁  =  20 ^oC  +  273   =  293 K        T₂  =  20 ^oC  +  273   =  293 K
•         P₁  =  93.3 kPa                                 P₂  =  _________

Write equation:       

Temperature is constant...cancel it out from equation:      

Substitute into equation:     

Solve for P₂:   P₂  =  373.2 kPa
