About Mrs. Bush

CFCS, NBCT

I began teaching in 1984, in Unit #5, after graduating from Illinois State University with a B.S. in Home Economics Education.  I graduated with a M.S. in Curriculum and Instruction from Illinois State University in 1994 and went on to earn an Administrative Endorsement. Although I currently teach at Normal West High School, I have also taught at Normal Community High School and Parkside Junior High School.

In 2003, I became a National Board Certified Teacher (NBCT) after passing the National Board for Professional Teaching Standards.  This is the only way in the state of Illinois to earn a Master Teacher designation.  I continue to take classes through the Unit #5 Professional Development Academy to learn additional teaching strategies and keep up with technological advances available to teachers.
As a NBCT, I  serve as a professional mentor for second year teachers within Unit #5 School District and mentor National Board Candidates. I am a Certified Family and Consumer Science Professional (CFCS) as designated by the American Association of Family and Consumer Sciences
At Normal West, I currently lead the College Tech Prep Team and serve on the Peer Mediation Team.   Throughout my teaching career in Unit #5, I have been a Future Career Community Leaders of America (FCCLA) advisor.
During my free time, I enjoy spending time with my family, which includes visiting my daughter at college in Nashville, TN and attending my son's high school activities.
