What is covered in Housing & Interior Design?

This course is an introduction to creating your own space using the elements and principles of design. Learn how to create the "background" of a room by discovering different types of window treatments, wall and floor coverings.  The computer software program, "3-D Home Architect" is used to create floor plans and learn about furniture arrangements.  Click on the syllabus link below for more information.

Housing and Interior Design I provides students with knowledge and skills which can be used in daily life or in a related career.  It is recommended for any student that likes to design and decorate their own space or is interested in becoming an Interior Designer, Architect, Decorator, Space Planner or other related career.

College Credit is available through the Family and Consumer Sciences Department at Illinois State University when students take Housing and Interior Design I and II and meet the requirements of the articulation agreement between Unit #5 and Illinois State University.
